Looking up, not down!!

This last few days has been a battle with the elements! We have had more rain in the last two weeks then we have had all year. The boys have been moved to new paddocks as their actual ones resemble water features, not paddocks and it was not helping Bo’s leg one bit.

Since they have moved, Bo’s leg is looking a lot better. The swelling has gone down heaps and both legs are almost the same size (yay). It’s still getting scrubbed daily and as Bo is such a bugger about it, he is getting twitched while I scrub it.

M has been working GK. I don’t think he likes her much. She doesn’t let him get away with anything (understandable, seeing as she is a much better rider than I am) and he was very much on the verge of throwing a temper tantrum yesterday arvo. She was asking him to move off her leg and he wasn’t so they had a bit of a discussion which involved her making him leg yield, turn on the fore and turn on the haunches until he did as he was told.

She also popped up some jumps for him and she was popping him over the jumps quite nicely. He messed up the striding a bit as he wanted to take off before the jumps and rush them. M managed to sit some pretty impressive GK catleaps including one over a 90cm vertical (without touching a pole!!). By the end of the session, he was jumping really well and flying over the jumps. He was a bit tired by the end and almost fell asleep while M was untacking him. Poor love.

Bo got jumped yesterday too. He did a bit of trotting and cantering over some 45cm-60cm jumps and did really well. Me on the other hand… Wow I suck! His jump is different to GK’s, his neck is longer and I can’t jump very well in a dressage saddle. I kept beating him to the jump and looking down at it instead of up. Aaaarrrrggggghhhhh! It was so frustrating! I started to get the hang of it towards the end and Bo was going really well.

Tonight the plan is to take them over to the Equestrian Park to use the slow work track for some fitness work for the pair of them as M galloped Joe yesterday. The track over the road is almost impossible to get to as the paddocks surrounding it are so water logged that it’s not funny, so we can’t use that which is a bit of a bummer but at least we have other options.

The rest of the week will involve Jumping for GK on Thurs and flatwork on Friday before Fairbridge. Bo will get galloped tonight, and will do flatwork on Thurs before having Friday off. Depending on when we get back Sat evening, I might have time to ride him but I am not super hopeful. He might get until Sunday arvo off which I am sure he will enjoy.

Ooh, on another note, Some of the professional photos are up from Dryandra. I was really happy with this one from Red, so I bought it. πŸ™‚

On another note, for the month of October GK and I will be stripping off our green and blue colours and will be riding in Pink to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer in memory of my mother who lost her battle in 2010. If anyone would like to donate money to the cancer council for Pink Ribbon Day, please feel free to click on this link to my fundraising page. http://wa.cancercouncilfundraising.org.au/NaeNae87

Til next time.

Hope you are well
