I must apologise for my lack of updates recently. We haven’t had too much happen riding wise and I have been super busy in other aspects of my life.
A few things have happened since my post about Wooroloo.
I took GK and Bo to a dressage training day which was held as a fundraiser for Sock It To Sarcoma. GK and I did our first Novice test… It wasn’t pretty but we completed it. My highlight though, was GK’s Prelim 1.1 test in which he scored a 71%. If someone has told me in January that he would have scored that high in a test, I would have laughed. Bo did alright. His first test was in the beautiful indoor arena at Brookleigh, which Bo was a little unsure of. As a result he was a bit tense and his score reflected that. His second test was at 4pm and by that time Bo was fed up and decided he wanted to join the Spanish Riding School and treated all watching some impressive airs above the ground. We did the test, it felt horrible and I was a little disappointed but unfortunately Bo decided he didn’t want to co-operate and I didn’t have much to say in the matter.
GK competed at Alcoa CNC… and made it around the XC course! It was lovely and sunny on the Saturday. GK warmed up well and stayed calm and relaxed the whole test. His Show Jumping round was interesting, but effective and we went around clear. Sunday was slippery and gross due to it raining non stop from 9.30am. GK was a little unsure of his footing and had a bit of an off day with two stops. The first was at a roll top before the water and the second was at the last jump. He was a good boy and listened but it just wasn’t to be. GK will be having a break from eventing and will be focusing on Pony Dressage for the next 12 months. We will do Show Jumping clinics and maybe a few competitions, but his flat work will be the main focus with a goal to have him back out and eventing in 2016.
Bo went to SWHT Harvey 2 with G… Ruby and I came as grooms. Bo was very well behaved for G. They were in 3rd place after Dressage on 57 penalties and stayed there after Show Jumping having jumped clear. As with Fairbridge, Saturday was lovely weather but Sunday at about 2am, the heavens opened and there was mud everywhere. A lot of riders scratched but G wanted to ride so my instructions to her were to ignore the clock and just ride safe. Bo was the 3rd fastest around the course in his class with 50 time penalties. It was really deep going but Bo handled it well and he looked after G. For their efforts… they remained in 3rd place! Bo got G a pretty white ribbon which she was delighted with.

Relaxing in Bo’s idea of heaven…
This Saturday that has just gone, I watched SP and the very talented Cadbury attend a Show Jumping clinic with Olympian and highest placed Aussie rider at WEG, Stuart Tinney. Cadbury was a little pocket rocket and impressed everyone with her work ethic, scope and form over the fence. It was great to watch.
We also found time to take Bo and Monarch to the beach 🙂
Cadbury, Bo and Joe are all entered in the Swan River Horse Trials which is in Dryandra this coming weekend. Joe in the EvA105. Cadbury and Bo are in the EvA65. It will be Bo’s last EvA65 this season as he will be moving up to EvA80 for Brigadoon 2 which is the last event on the calender.
